Tinamou Research Group header image

This site is meant to serve as a source of information on tinamous for both researchers and the general public and to serve as a medium to further our understanding of these birds. The idea for this page was born from a lack of information on tinamous and the recognized need to address the problem. Through the support of the American Pheasant and Waterfowl Society, World Pheasant Association, and the associated IUCN Cracid and Partridge, Quail, and Francolin Specialist Groups, the first scientific symposium on the tinamous was organized in 2003 at the VIIth Neotropical Ornithological Congress, Termas de Puyehe, Chile. Many of the ideas and contents of this site stem from this symposium.
